Since 2001 I have a permanent position as staff researcher at the “Istituto di Cibernetica Eduardo Caianiello” CNR-ICIB. I took my degree in biology cum laude in 1990 at the “University of Naples Federico II”. As graduate student I worked at a research project concerning the study of genetic basis of Drosophila oogenesis. As postgraduate student I moved from animal genetics to the field of neuroscience. From 1991 to 1994 under the supervision of Dr. U. Di Porzio, at Institute of Genetics and Biophysics (CNR-IGB), I was involved in research projects aimed to describe, with cellular and molecular approaches, the development of nigro-striatal dopaminergic pathway and the construction of a neuronal cell line. In 1995 at CNR-IGB, I worked for two years as CNR young researcher, at a project concerning the genetic dissection of early stages of animal development. From 1997 to 2000 I was host researcher at CNR-ICIB. At present, my scientific interests are focused on the development, physiology and evolution of the nervous system. I work at interdisciplinary research projects aimed to develop new tools committed to the study of gene function using animal models and bio-nanotechnologies. I'm author of 21 papers published on peer review International journals.
